Living a Bountiful Life: Summer Activities for Seniors in Bountiful, Utah
Heritage Place calls pleasant Bountiful, Utah home. With our sunny days and snowy mountain views, we couldn’t imagine living anywhere but here. Located just 10 minutes from Salt Lake City, we get to enjoy all the perks of a large city while holding on to our small-town charm.
Summer in this Salt Lake City suburb presents us with an array of fun activities. All season long, we enjoy festivals that celebrate our heritage and this beautiful state we call home.
Magic on the Sidewalk (May 17-20)
Did you see any of the chalk drawings decorating Main Street back in May? This annual art festival, hosted by the Joy Foundation, brings kids and professional artists together to turn our street into a blank canvas for doodles and masterpieces. Through art, the organization works to create a sense of belonging for marginalized youth.
The festival is a great way for our residents to get out into the community and enjoy the work of talented local artists. If you missed out, be sure to mark your calendar to experience this festival next year.
Bountiful Handcart Days (July 21-22)
Bountiful Handcart Days celebrates our town’s past, present, and future. We can’t wait to welcome this annual festival and parade for another year as it passes right in front Heritage Place. On July 21st, we also hold our annual BBQ & Carnival to coincide with this fun event.
Handcart Days presents a great way to invite our Bountiful neighbors in to visit our community, get to know our staff and residents, and check out our amenities. Don’t forget to visit the art & craft exhibition, take history tours, and catch the fireworks show on Friday night!
Tour of Utah (July 31-Aug 6)
Since Utah is home to endless outdoor activities, it’s no surprise that one of the top professional cycling events in North America takes place here. The Tour of Utah brings some of the world’s best cyclists to our state for this week-long event. We’re excited to catch the end of Stage 5 as the race comes through Bountiful on August 4.
This will be a fun event celebrating the importance of physical activity at every age level. The Tour also welcomes volunteers, which is a great opportunity for active seniors to become involved in our community and catch this exciting sporting event up close.
Heritage Place Activities
Besides these city- and state-wide events, we also host our own set of activities right here at Heritage Place. From Wii Bowling every Saturday, to Painting Club and Sing-A-Longs, there’s something for everyone. We also have special holiday celebrations, which include the silly ones. For example, July 19 is Hot Dog Day, and we’ll be having a cookout at 4:30 pm in our garden area!
If you’re still curious about our activity programs, visit our blog to read about some of our favorites, like our very own Garden Club. Or if you’d like to see what we do in person, schedule a tour. We’d love to show you around!
